In the midst of sweeping technological innovation and development that take in India, what better could land as a gift? The mother of all innovations often in recognition as an encyclopedia,
Wikipedia has opened its first office outside the dimensions of United States here in India. It is a gift to 1.2 billion Indians who could now access information in their respective regional languages.
Wikipedia is a free web-based, collaborative work-force with more than 20 million articles which have been written by different people around the globe. It is an online encyclopedia that operates without any expenses occurred from advertising.
The operation India promotes the task of accessing the information in different India languages which are primary for the readers. India with a large variance in the youth population often has the requisites for a quick source of information and none better could happen than Wiki in their own respective languages.
The fifth-most viewed site Wiki after Google, Yahoo, Facebook and Microsoft anticipates a high growth in their traffic structure after a recent increase of 420 billion from 340 billion earlier. The Wiki activity would certainly also help in provoking the culture of research and innovation in the country.
As Internet happens to gets cheaper in India with the advent of electronic gadgets like ‘Aakash’ the value of Wiki in general enhances to a sustained height well above the past. Secondly, Wikipedia also provides an incentive to write an original piece of work. As Wikipedia is an online based collaborated work of different volunteers together who write, share edit and re-edit the different articles which promotes the writing habits among Indians at large.
The volunteers and their work is a prior step based towards research mythology and an effective ability to converse. Promotion of such culture is effectively regarded as a development of educational index for a developing world like India who needs it in lieu. Till now sharing of photography, video, documents and similes took place with the already existing electronic mails and social networks like Facebook but this new revolution would enhance the knowledge sharing.
Hence, Wikipedia makes a formal opening conference in the heart of Mumbai (Churchgate) this week with an inaugural ceremony by the founder itself Jimmy Wales.
“The emotional, sexual and psychological stereotyping of females begin when the doctor says, “It’s a girl!”
– Shirley Chisholm
At first glance, the statement might not sound powerful enough to astound you, but even if it succeeds in touching the tiniest percentage of your conscience, well, it will recede in a while!
The glaring fact that girls are killed prematurely and women are bought and sold is a harsh reality of the society with which everyone is acquainted…But the big questions is how many of us ponder over such issues or feel even inclined, forget about being bold enough, to work for a change.
At a time when the media is promoting several Bollywood flicks, the stock markets are booming, new technologically superior gadgets are making their way into our so called ‘Jet Life’, and Indians are ecstatic about having the richest man of the world in their midst, there are millions of impoverished and vulnerable women who are waiting with anguish their doomsday
Our past lies in the future. The society gradually seems to be moving from polygamy to polyandry!
Yes! The patriarchal society will soon move towards the marriages of one woman to five men, just as it was in the Mahabharata!
The high dowry demands during the marriage of a girl child are one of the most important reasons of female feoticide. With the alarming rate at which our society is exterminating small girls, it often makes me wonder whether this practice would actually enhance the value of women and small girls.
In India, preference of male child appears to be undiminished by socio-economic development: a ‘son’ is a support in old age. Also customs, in which the last rites of the parents are performed by the son, only go on to show how desirable a male-child is.
this discussion can go on and on. Therefore, it is time we took up this cause as a social emergency and tackled it on all fronts.
The scenario is likely to improve with the upcoming development cells and bodies which work for women empowerment and education.
The whole new concept of feminism seems to bring a ray of hope. Education and employment of women is extremely essential. We have to do much for the womankind. They are, after all, women- our mothers, our creators!
Calling on Corruption! Calling on Revolution! Calling on Fast!
The three different glimpse of an empty Indian political jug that has nothing more left in it. Some have went ahead to refill the jug while others have gone on a strike which includes the fancy hunger-cum Anna/Bapu way.
Recently the Union Cabinet Minister who are often designated with ‘honorable’ have disclosed their portfolio of assets. It strictly depicts the progress and a shinning India campaign. The Civil-Aviation Minister Praful Patel has recently shown in public, on an average wealth of half-a-million to his assets in just 28 months the time he held that minister. Contrary to it, Air India has been crying over some split milk! They are struggling to even pay their workers with a basic salary.
During the 2009, Praful Patel had an asset worth of 79 crores while Rs122 crores in 2011. It happens to be some basic mathematics. Nearly,5 lakh a day. It strictly cut seals the argument made by Aruna Roy against the Planning Commission. While some have debated Rs32 or Rs25 for a daily wage laborers the minister are widely filling up their pockets.
Who says Corruption?
No, this is
not corruption in my dictionary. Corruption is basically the art of illegal activities that happen unnoticed. Praful Patel and several others have made sure we expose that remains unexposed.
He didn’t do any wrong. We knew it long since 2009 asset deceleration to the present one. Simultaneously we all read, shared and debated on the labor unrest at Air India. The Patel story was left unnoticed just nothing more than a blind eye.
From the Green to the Telecom and the Fast revolution that revolutionizes another mystery of what it being all about. Certainly, the food and telecom had provided enough development and growth while the revolution of hunger just gives a deadly weapon in the hands of the public.
The pilots have just added some more strikes while calmly Patel have filled his pocket all high. Being Blind is all we could do for now.
The story doesn’t end here. The young leaders who are a master of management or rather some MBA tag-holders have already joined the party. Milind Deora who holds the Ministry For Communication and Technology has almost doubled his portfolio of assets within two years. From Rs.17 crores to Rs.33 crores in 2011. The Young Indian intellects have told us all about our future. A future where everything is dim under a 100watt blub.
Neither more or less, are we deceiving ourselves. India happens to be ruled by some Anna and Baba who provoke and dictate the countrymen with some false stories. Stories where at times Democracy dies while at others good men elected bad people. Among all this, ministers keep filling up their pockets.

A two-member delegation Justice Nasir Aslam Jahid, a former judge of Pakistan’s Supreme Court, and Karamat Ali well-known peace activist from Pakistan on Wednesday met social activist Anna Hazare at his native village Ralegan Siddhi and extended an invitation to visit the neighbouring country.
“The success of Hazare’s anti-corruption movement had boosted the morale of the activists in Pakistan. The people of Pakistan wanted Hazare to visit the country,” said Karamat Ali.
Today, Anna’s words have immense power not only in India, but also throughout South Asia and the entire world,” said Justice Zahid.
Anna Hazare later said that like India, Pakistan too faced a serious problem of corruption and “I would like to go there if my visit is going to help” the anti-corruption movement there.
Tendulkar, the world’s highest run-getter in both Tests and ODIs s pen down a letter to ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat for changes in ODI format.
Tendulkar wants ICC to make “a radical switch” from 50-50 to four 25-over innings.
The Indian batting icon had spoken about this new concept in television interviews in the past but had never written a letter to ICC in this regard.
Apart from reducing the number of overs per innings, Tendulkar has also proposed several more changes for the ODIs.
“I have been capturing my thoughts on what I think would be the way forward to ensure that all three formats in the game co-exist and ensure value creation,” he wrote.
Tendulkar’s letter also proposed changes in voluntary Powerplays.
In each 25-over block, Tendulkar wants only two Powerplays at the behest of the batting side but suggested that up to four bowlers should be allowed up to 12 overs each, rather than the present limit of 10.
Let see may if new regulations appeared can overcome the relatively dull and predictable middle-over phases of 50-over games.
After “Gandhian” Anna Hazare undertook a fast against corruption last month, it is now Gujarat Chief Minister , Narendra Modi, who has announced a three-day fast of “SADBHAVNA MISSION” to mark “complete peace, unity and harmony” in the state.
Modi decided to undertake the fast after the Supreme Court (SC) recently directed the trial court to decide on Gujarat’s riots case, including his role, on the basis of the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Modi has termed the SC decision a victory. However, the opposition is not impressed with it.
In an open letter to the people of Gujarat, Modi has announced that “the real strength of the country lies in its unity and harmony” and as a Chief Minister, “the pain of each and every citizen of the state was his pain as well“. He also adds that his fast is not against anyone instead it’s a part of “a good-will mission” and will put an end to “vote bank politics”.
Tamil Nadu’ s CM Jayalalithaa praises Modi, saying that “His fast is a good-will gesture and not about political dynamics”. Similar views are also shared by L.K. Advani, the senior BJP leader.
But on the other hand,
It has been argued that this fast of the Gujarat’s CM ,Narendra Modi, in an attempt to shrug off the “communal tag” and portray himself as a secular leader.
Opposition party leaders also termed this act as “gimmickry” , to get rid of the stigma on him.
Blast After Blast In India: Who Is Responsible?
7 September, 2011.
A Bomb Blast outside High Court, with no tangible inputs left 13 people dead, more that 70 injured :’-(
Who is responsible??
Is it so?
Looking at current scenario, the answer seems to be yes, our politicians want to justify that it happened on its own, No one is responsible.
Bjp leaders blaming Congress policies for this and Congress want to hold the neck of security.
It a become a privilege now for terrorist to attack Indian capital.“The excuse of ‘not being able to prevent every attack’ by our government wearing perilously thin,”
While investigators tried to find a breakthrough in the Delhi high court case of the explosion, another terror e-mail warning of imminent attack on Ahmedabad reportedly surfaced. Ahmedabad is now put on high alert, Gujarat, in particular.
Our loving and caring government has appealed to people to stay alert, they are doing their best, to build their capacity to fight terror!
Which of these statements best describes government commitment towards people of this country!
There exist no CCTV’s as PWD dragged feet. By the government, departments did not took decisions that time regarding CCTV”s and now building capacity takes time for this, appeal all to alert and its state responsibility also.
Again the Question arises “who is responsible?”
The reason for failure are in the system:–
1. Lack of strong governance, will power.
2. Lacking of decision making quality and leadership is an issue.
3. Attitute of passing buck on others.
4. Lacking of self intiated on the part of governtal agencies.
5. Unable to pre-empt the situation.
Government needs to be vigilant and should involve the community people to fight against the upcoming or future terrorism like Ahmedabad, It should act as leader rather being sympathetic!
Rahul Dravid, take a bow!! :)
*stands and applauds in appreciation*Sachin is God, Dravid is Lord.
There are some sporting personalities that comprise from Michael Schumacher to Roger Federer to Cristiano Ronaldo who have defined sporting culture in an entirely different arena making it more beautiful. Rahul Dravid is truly a dependent variable of the function, hence truly a legend.
He has often being called The Wall of Indian Cricket, a batsman that even happened to keep wickets. He is another legendry who could firmly sit back and entertain on those glorious days he had. On some glorious days, he scored a century while on others he lifted the trophy. Rahul Dravid is an intense man who prefers his bat to do all the talking. A man who remarks cricket as a gentlemen’s game.
Running with a Reebok kit, a well smart man who has shaved with Gillette with efficiency like the Castrol oil and ensured with Max Life Insurance is no other but Rahul Dravid. It doesn’t end here, he has several more brands to promote like Bank Of Baroda, Sansui, Samsung, Karnataka Tourism , Citizen etc.
It all began in 1996 though the seeds had been sown much before. A Benguluru boy who had flown to London after being replaced of an eminent cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar. Along with him travelled another boy, the boy from Bengal ‘DADA’. Hence, came the Lord with a historic score of 95 at the Cricket Macca- the Lords. Rahul had made things clear, the cricketing era was witnessing something new.
He had compensated hard with due concentration to become a perfect athlete, he had been termed as a liability in the one-day arena by few but it was his consistency that made him a master for the same. While the giants were seen anguished, the man of silence kept climbing high.
Has the farewell happened?
I still wonder, there are columns in the daily these days. While some write about the crucial statistics the others are known to compare him with a wide range of cricketing seasons that Rahul had acknowledged. They are bread-earners who would work to be fed, while there are sportsperson who are fed for their work.
The Dravid story is narrated in a similar passion to that of Kumble.
Another Benguluru boy who lost his identity some years back from the time he retired in the one-dayers. Time hence, they are being called back for sake to retire. It happened in the case of Dada, Jumbo and it happens in case of the Wall.
Are these sportsmen deceiving themselves?
Going through a lean form in the one-dayers, Dravid was dropped from the squad in 2007. After being called back in 2009 for just 6 matches as the young branch of Indian fertility weren’t capable enough to face the foreign soil. He has further being called back, for the English tour in the same basic requisites.
What does BCCI stand for?
BCCI- Board of Cricket Control in India
BCCI- Board of Credit and Commerce in Investment Cricket
They treat players as a commodity, one traded on the stock market. Purchase it when they perform and sell it, when they fail. When legends have a temporary price attached to it, consider the ones who struggle to play.
All this has made Dravid adieu cricket, nothing more than few columns would boast about his cricketing career and would be further seen in some leagues or commentating others.
It is simply another Cricketer and another farewell story.
Good-Bye – Rahul Dravid- The Lord.
let’s Go Carbon Free, Go Sugar Free, Go Cholesterol Free and Let’s Go Anna Free for now.
It’s not about the first, second or even third page, but Anna has reached still the tenth page of the daily journals. Name it and he is there, from newspapers in different languages to the various magazines and blogs like the present one “ANNA ANNA AANA”.
Questions are many, solutions are few. For some, he has instilled the tablets of patriotism for the nation while for others he has recalled the lost Gandhian principles. I often wonder if Gandhi Ji would be sitting in the heaven reading journals comprising all about Anna, would wear a T-shirt with a funky quote on it “I Love Anna” like people do for Salman and Sharukh. The answer has been simple; no person could read better the psychology of a human mind than what these media-men do.
They have bought the Anna ink from the cheap Wholesale market and have further gone endless in printing journals out of it. There has been a stock market that has crashed, British office being attacked in Afghanistan, Dhoni & Co ready to make a 0-4 and a new version of Swift to be launched soon by Maruti Suzuki.
Even the guardian and the economist in London have started mentioning him. Anna has been a hot cup for daily bulletin, but certainly it’s not a fight for nation interest, but describing what is national interest.
Is the voice against the corruption prevalent a matter of national interest or the voice against the elected government?
Certainly, the present day Journalist has inflicted the minds of their reader. They are no more a thinker in the present day society; they have been hard on reading text which may infuse their thinking bulbs.
It’s not wise, to relate this old socialist activist having some affiliations with other political parties, but he has been hard on the present-day Congress from the state-level to the centre. The issue is not in relation with it a political party, but has Anna being trying to relate himself with ‘Anarchism’.
It’s no secret that one single person has shivered the Prime Minister’s Office, no secret he fights for a noble cause, no secret he is doing something which should have been done by someone amongst us. Has he taken the right track or would his sheer arrogance disturb the Indian Society for even worse. Columns have been filled while one-minute bulletin flashes with slogans like, “Fight for Corruption” and “Death of Democracy” but no great has analyzed the impact of Jan LokPal Bill. How good it would be to bring Prime Minister’s Office? Won’t it kill the independence of Judiciary?
Let’s command our brains to think, let’s command our souls to be stir, let’s command our eyes to see. Let’s not follow others blindly, let’s bring our own perception. Candle-lights are not a solution, but just a perception and support towards one form of solution that one attains.
GO Anna Free!!!
Aarakshan garners mixed reviews of the critics and viewers. The movie is among the rare mainstream bollywood movies going beyond boy-meets-girl kind of story and presents the real aspects of reservation and education system of India.
The story centers around education system; the first half relates to Aarakshan peripherally and the second half showing the condition of our education system as a business in our society, quite unconnected with the first half. The message of movie is although very good, but you can not shake of the feeling that you are trapped in a three hour long lecture. Songs are good, but unnecessarily introduced in between the story.
Prakash Jha so-called raising the public issue talking like a great man in press conferences and making the point of anti-reservation just to get publicity. In fact, the movie is just the flip side of the coin.
When you watch the movie, first thing, you will laugh on our mighty politicians who were in favour of banning this movie, even after watching the movie. This shows the intellectual level of all of them.
The supreme court quashed the suspension of screening of the movie and lifts Uttar Pradesh ban on reservation. Speaking for the bench, Justice Sharma said: ‘In fact, such discussions on social issues bring awareness, which is required for effective working of democracy. In fact, when there is such public discussion and dissent there would be an informed public opinion which, is necessary for our society.’
Addition to that the court said: ‘Once the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film for public view, the screening of the film can’t be stopped’. A very warm welcomed decision by the supreme court.
In short Aarakshan shows great insight into socio-political insight of education system in India, worth watching for that. But if you are looking for entertainment or some ‘Rang de Basanti’ type of bang you will be disappointed….choice is yours
